Bart Akkerhuis (Rotterdam 1971) studied architecture at the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands from which he graduated with a honorable mention in 2004. As a student he worked for a period of two years for the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris.

During his studies he met Thijs de Ruiter, with whom he designed and completed several projects, amongst them a traveling exhibition about the architecture couple the Smithsons, a temporary theatre in Noordwijk and a suspended theatre shop in The Hague, The Netherlands.

After his studies he moved to London to work for HOK International as a project architect on a number of large schemes. In 2006 he returned to Paris to work for the Renzo Piano Building Workshop. He contributed to projects like the KPN tower in Rotterdam and The Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago. He continues to work free-lance for RPBW on the construction of Europe’s tallest tower, the London Bridge Tower in London.

Bart founded Studio Akkerhuis in 2008 and has since then realized its first project: Beach Club Bries in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Following to this award winning project Bart was asked to work with his Studio Akkerhuis on the restaurant Zerodix in Crans Montana, Switzerland which was opened in december 2010.

At the moment Studio Akkerhuis collaborates with several architects and engineers on new projects in Europe and has a presence in Paris and Munich.

Philipp Molter. (St Ingbert, D, 1976) studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and the EPFL in Lausanne and graduated “excellent” in 2005.As a student he worked for Massimiliano Fuksas in Paris where he turned back after his studies to work on international projects.

Between 2006 and 2010 he worked as an architect at Renzo Piano Building Workshop on the St. Giles project a mixed-use development in the center of London. After its completion, Philipp joined studio akkerhuis and realized award winning projects. Since 2009 he is lecturer and research associate at the Department of Envelope Constructions at the Technical University Munich where his research and teaching focuses on adaptive façade structures and their thermal and environmental performance.
